Pre-Practical Nursing Program
This course will offer students an introduction to our Practical Nursing program. Students who pass this course with a minimum grade of 75% and who are absent no more than 2 sessions will not be required to take the Basic Skills PN entrance exam and can register for the September 2019 PN course. space is limited in both PrePN course and PN course. Time missed from class (lateness, leaving early, etc.) will be factored into the attendance policy. Students will be graded via tests (50%), quizzes (25%), and a final (25%). This course is not a prerequisite for the PN program, rather a class geared toward the student who is looking to be introduced to and better prepared for the PN program, as well as for students who did not pass the PN entrance exam. Students should purchase the most recent editions of the following textbooks: Fundamentals of Nursing Care: Concepts, Connections & Skills: Burton and Ludwig, The Human Body in Health and Illness: Herlihy.
Priority registration will be given to those students who previously took the LPN entrance exam, but were unsuccessful.
